This project showcases a series of cinematic posters designed for Cab Ride, an LGBTQ+ short film that delves into themes of love, emotional tension, and personal identity. COTgroup LTD crafted a set of visually striking posters to evoke the emotional journey of the characters, exploring connection, isolation, and vulnerability. The design process involved creating both portrait and landscape formats, each poster thoughtfully designed to mirror the film’s delicate narrative. Drawing inspiration from contemporary cinematic poster designs, such as Jericho Ridge, the posters use minimalist compositions, lighting, and symbolic textures to convey the essence of the film’s themes and atmosphere.

Portrait poster for a short film called Cab Ride

The portrait poster for Cab Ride captures a tender and intimate moment between two partners, seated side by side in the back of a taxi, their eyes locked in quiet connection. This gaze between them speaks volumes about the unspoken depth of their relationship. Drawing inspiration from the emotionally charged visuals of Jericho Ridge, the design uses soft lighting and muted colours to evoke a sense of intimacy, vulnerability, and longing. The delicate folded paper texture enhances the visual depth, symbolising the fragile yet enduring nature of their emotional bond. The portrait orientation emphasises their closeness, inviting the viewer into a moment of raw, personal connection.

The three landscape posters for Cab Ride explore the evolving emotional distance and connection between the couple. In the first poster, captures a moment of tentative connection as both partners turn toward each other, hinting at a fragile hope. The second & third poster, with both characters gazing out opposite windows, symbolizes the separation they feel despite their shared space. Long exposure streetlights in the background create a sense of motion and time passing, while the folded paper texture adds depth and fragility to the overall design. Each poster uses light, composition, and subtle symbolism to convey the complex dynamics of love, disconnection, and intimacy.
